Workshop: Intro to Theater Lighting
FREE
Step behind the curtain and discover the magic of theatrical lighting with an upcoming training.
This hands-on workshop, led by our technical director, will introduce participants to the basics of theatrical lighting and explore how lighting design can bring actors to life on stage and set the mood for the audience. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn about WHCP’s newly installed lighting board, made possible through the generous support of the Maine Community Foundation’s Maine Theater Fund.
Whether you’re a theater enthusiast, a budding technician, or simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable insight into the art and science of stage lighting.

You Can't Take it With You
Sunday Matinee, March 2, 2 PM
Friday, March 7 & Saturday, March 8, 7 PM
“You Can’t Take it With You” is the story of a not-what-you-call “typical” family, the Sycamores. They are a collection of contented eccentrics who make fireworks, write but never finish plays, operate printing presses, and play the xylophone in pursuit of self-fulfillment. Among this mix of zany characters is one “normal” daughter who falls in love with her boss’s son. Upon her engagement, plans are made to introduce the two families. When her fiance and his parents show up a day early, the collision between the quirky Sycamores and stolid Kirbys sets off hilarious absurdities and improbabilities. In the end, “You Can’t Take it With You” reminds us what is important in life – the wholehearted pursuit of Happiness.
